Sensei Yogi McGovern is a seasoned martial artist and law enforcement professional with over 25 years of experience in combat sports, specializing in practical self-defense and the real-world application of Minami Ryu Jujitsu. As a second-degree black belt (nidan) in Minami Ryu Jujitsu, Sensei Yogi combines extensive training in various martial arts, including Muay Thai, Kendo, White Crane, and Iron Palm and Krav Maga to deliver effective, adaptable techniques for today’s challenges.
With certifications as a defensive tactics instructor, CQB instructor, and firearms instructor, Sensei Yogi brings a wealth of knowledge to self-defense training. His 15 years in law enforcement, including 12 years on SWAT—three as a SWAT commander with the LADOJ—equip him with firsthand insights into high-stakes environments, ensuring that his teachings are grounded in real-world applicability.
Sensei Yogi provides tailored classes in women’s self-defense, medical self-defense, and situational awareness, along with regular self-defense training designed to build practical skills and confidence.
